I'm on the look out for a new mouse. Over the years I've tried loads: -
* Track ball (oh cleaning the mouse every month was fun)
* Optical
* Laser
* Cordless etc.
I just brought a Logitech mx1000, which has died and wanted to know what everybody else uses. It is the second cordless mouse I've brought which just stopped working and I wasn't sure if I liked the button position.
So now you know the reason, what’s everyone's favourite mouse of all time and why?
imo logitech mx 510
ive never had probs with mine and its got nce tracking, dont go for cordless the sometimes skip (not good tracking like corded mice)
i play rtcw (yeye old game but still the best by far) and my team is top 5 europe im pro trust me this mouse rocks :P
mx700, never had a problem with the tracking..

I thought I might like the
MX310 - small lightweight reliable but uncomfortable with awkward side buttons
I have the Logitech MX510 and the difference between it and the "Microsoft intellimouse explorer" and Logitech "dual optical mouse" that i used to have is breathtaking..
My cousin and brother have each got one and they also think it's the best mouse they have ever used :)
MX700 gets my vote here as well. If your a lefty though .. say away as its designed for normal right-handed use :)

Still using the explorer v3 here, but I am thinking of changing to the Logitech MX510 (corded) as it has 8 buttons on it which can obviously be of use in games for mapping keys to the buttons, the MX510 seems a better mouse than the MS v3
MX700. I have had mine a year and have had no problems. Best mouse I have ever used. Certainly no problems wiht the tracking.
My MX500 does the job for me. Never had a problem. Thought about going wireless, but there really is no point until it goes wrong.
MX700 works fine for me. Though I would expect the MX1000 to perform similarly.. Aren't they similar in design? (Haven't really looked for a replacement for my MX700 yet).
Love my mx1000 - feels a lot better to me than my old 700 - sorry to hear yours died, I've seen quite a few reports of the early ones having probs, but the later ones seem to be ok
Thnx Everyone, took my MX1000 into work and got it working again, no idea how, so hopefully when I take it back home it should work. Maybe the wireless signal ?
Not to sure about cordless any more, I'll see how it goes in the future. I take it from everyone's post most people think logi-tech are the best for mice. I wouldn't mind trying a 510, to see what there like.
I do have anoter question, when I'm gaming (doom3 mainly) sometimes the mouse/view suddenly goes straight-up or down so your staring at the cieling. You'll be in the middle of trying to frag, when suddenly your staring at the cieling and someone moe's you down with a rocket launher :( anyone got any idea's ?
I've got a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0... It's gorgeous. Tracks beautifully and there's zero lag :)

i love it to pieces, still with the ball and the cord, but the cord doesnt get in my way in games, and the ball gives it some weight, i love i to pieces, and it feels great :)
MS Intellimouse explorer or the new one.
Find it suits my hand better ergonomically than the logitech range.

I like the intellimouse but I find it has a habit of sticking. Not drastically but enough to get me wasted. I also have a logitec trackman which is quite good. Used a trackball for so long now that I can't get on with a normal mouse. I tried recently but it was a washout.
I'm still lovin' my Logitech Wingman gaming mouse but it's not the fastest in the world.
As an aside what do peeps think the greatest ball-mouse ever was? I'm keen to avoid the optical/laser revolution for a little while longer yet :)

Tried all the main ones and I've settle on the MX510, 8 customisable buttons can really come in handy. The precision and accuracy are up there with the Razors.
Havent been able to get all the 8 buttons to work in games for my MX510 yet :(
was hopeing to set grenade to one of the button above or below the mouse wheel.
But no luck with that.
Strange.... all mine work in every game. Try setting some to key assignments i.e some of mine are set to , . / ; '
Also try Logigamer to set different mouse profiles which might come in handy
My favourite mouse was always the intellimouse explorer 3. Absolutely perfect ergonomics, and the tracking wasn't half bad either. Goes to explain why the paint on the top has worn right down and the mouse feet are just not there anymore. Overuse is a terrible thing. Hasn't broken yet though.
At the moment though I'm loving my mx700.
Changed from intellimouse optical to an mx1000 and not looked back. Very accurate, the battery lasts 2 weeks before it needs a recharge. NO LAG!!
Although no company that produces mice have managed to produce one with all the buttons in the right place.
The mx1000 has 2 unusable buttons unless you have a strange alien mitts or something. Why can't they put buttons where the thumb naturally sits!!

I still love my Logitech iFeel Mouseman with its vibration feedback. I don't think it is gimmicky & worked great on Medal of Honor. Shame some of the newer games don't support it.

I love my MX1000 too, i dont have a problem with the side buttons, never use the forward one but if they had put the button where your thumb lies i think you'd get pretty pissed off with where they put it!Quote:

I have tried them all it seems, including the Boomslang. I was also changing mice every few months before I found the best by far which I have been using for over a year now.
Microsoft Optical Notebook Mouse. Very light super responsive fits snugly into the palm of the hand. Only two small disadvantages are, 3 buttons only and its not cordless.
Vis a vis the MX 1000, it looks rather large. Does anyone with smallish hands have one? I find some Logitech Mice are uncomfortable because they have a hump that forces my hand into an unnatural postion - this looks like it may be one of them. Comments?

Woo Hoo !!! Got my mouse working at home at last, put a new copy of 2K3 on and it's working again. Still not to sure abuot the mouse, but I suppose it reacts diffefrently from any other mouse I've used, so it might be a question of getting used to new things.
I think the best 3 are (not stealing anything from Tom's hardware review) are the Razer Diamondback or the MX510 or MX1000/700. Still thinking of upgrading to MX510, but I'm going to give my MX1000 a chance, after all I spend enough on it.
One of my mates has got the Logitech Trackman Wheel and says thats really good, not to sure about it myself and I don't think I would ever use on, but if anyones got anything to say, then go on.
