    Wise things that you did long ago that you're still pleased you did

    Have you done something.. hardware-wise, that was just a great thing to do and which, many years later, you're still benefitting from?

    I did

    Long ago, I got one of these

    which holds a standard bulb

    I ran a length of cable to a plug and stuck a low wattage energy saving bulb in it...

    and I screwed it under my PC desk... it's under there now.

    When I kneel down to work on my PC, as I just did to change a CMOS battery.. or anything else on any PC related issue.. I plug it into the multiplug by my feet.. and its just so simple and effective

    and it doesnt get hot so I don't burn my head.

    The drive chain adjuster for the GPZ900r requires a z-shaped spanner so I made one.

    I wish I still had it though. That feeling of solving a problem all by myself at a tender age. No biggie, but the feeling remains.

    The 120mm fans I use for bedroom cooling in the summer, first used 8 years ago!



    Set up in a push-pull with the pull side fitted with a fly screen.

    I did a very similar thing when I was in my barrack block room a few years ago. I even stuck an old fan controller on there since it was a good way to power the 4 fans.
