    I think its the PSU...

    Hi Guys
Its been a while since I needed help with my PC, but recently it has just stopped working. When I attempt to turn it on, the power light flashes quickly then there is a continual double beep (ie beep beep pause beep beep pause).Nothing powers up (eg fans).

From what I can tell based on ABIT motherboards error reporting its a CMOS problem, but I'm not sure if thats actually right as I reset the CMOS and even got a new battery for the mobo.

So, I pulled the whole thing apart and put it back together. It suddenly worked, i figured something must have been loose.
That is until I powered it off again and got back to the the same beeping error.

My fix now it to pull out the power cables from the video card and turn it on, then turn it off, plug the cables back in and it starts.

Must be the PSU right? But why does it only work if I pull cables out first?

Anyway thats where someone here might be able to help!

    Mobo: ABIT IP35
    CPU: Intel Q6600 QuadCoreCPU
    GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 Ultra
    RAM: 4 GB Corsair
    PSU: 650W ENERMAX INFINITI PSU

    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    D

PS I know this is old by todays standards, but its done the job for the last 6 years, thinking of an upgrade if I cant solve the issue.

The only way to know is to swap it out I'm afraid.

Another maybe: check the caps on the mobo. If any are looking suspect, that could also cause it.

Not really, I bought my 750W PSU back in 2007 when it was overkill but it's still viable now having gone into 3 build thus far.

    It's an investment
