    Question VIA vs Nforce....?Pros/Cons

just wondering what are the pros/cons of VIA apposed to Nforce? Which is overall better of the two; price and preformance wise. This question applies to 32/64bit systems.
    cheers

The nVIDIA nForce chipset has been an overclocking and stability legend for as long as i can remember. If nForce 2 and 3 are anything to go by nForce 4 is going to be amazing. My friend is running 300FSB on an MSI nForce 3 motherboard with stock NB heatsink, stability is no question at all for the chipset. Never been a fan of VIA tbh, their audio and overclocking lacks greatly.

cheers for input i personally run a7n8x-e dlx Nforce2 myself. i like the overclocking functions and the onboard sound is very good.unfortunaly it wont be Nvidia SoundStorm / Dolby Digital Audio anymore. but hey i dont plan to upgrade for ages anyway is it true that VIA seem to get very hot?

If you are looking at AMD64 there is very little difference in performance between the 2 now that the memory controller is on the CPU.
Really comes down to features you need/bundle/price.

edit:actually I would say that my nF3 chip gets hotter than the VIA K8T880 nb & sb

Buff's got it spot on for the latest chipsets
For the older ones though, its more of a case of "Why would i even think about geting a VIA over a Nforce 2 ?"

I will go Nvidia with the latest ones too though. Ive had Zero problems with the nforce platform - ever. If i was to list all the problems id had with VIA over the years, id be here for the best part of a day.
