SN95G5 install problems

I just put one together with a 3200 winchester.

When I power on, the bios screen comes on, it detects the processor and the ram and then hangs...

Any ideas?

check with shuttle that the mobo supports a winchester a lot of 939 mobos are needing an updated bios to support 939 worth a try

Did you have to update the Shuttle bios to recoginze the Winchester Chip?

I'm looking to purchase the Athlon 64 (Winchester) and the SN95G5 and want to know if there is gonna be a problem with the installation.

FYI. I had 'J' bios with my Winchester and I got it to POST properly. But there are more Winchester fixes in the latest 'M" bios so I recommend upgrading.

Also, your problem might be solved if you can get into the BIOS and up the voltages for everything. the SN95G5 is known to undervolt.

Set
cpu = 1.5v
vdimm = 2.7 or 2.8v
agp = 1.6v
chipset = 1.7v

Having suffered with this same model this evening , I would also point at ram voltages and voltages in general. I had to take a stick of ram out to get mine to boot at all

Got it working ok but I've not put the ram back in yet.

I found that it just took a few attempts - after a bit of messing around - it just worked...! It was as if the components needed to get a bit warmed up after their long time in storage.

Well I know that it doesn't really make sense but it works perfectly now. So I suggest several hard reboots / reinstalling hardware before you get too worried...

I find that is true of most computer stuff. First time usually seems to go funky, same with the second, and occasionally the third. Then for no apparent reason, wham, zham, schuzzham, everything works. I just expect it and make allowances.
