Sky into PC??

What would be the best (and cheapest) way to get the picture from my Sky box into my PC?

I want good picture quality (ie not via composite video), is there any kind of device/card which will allow a scart input or is s-video my best bet?

I want to be able to watch TV either in a window or fullscreen on one of my tfts (in a dual-display setup).

I currently have a Radeon 9500 non-pro, does this have any video input facilities?

i will need to be able to display the sky picture at 1280x1024, ideally.

Also, I will soon be looking to get a new Graphics card, with Dual DVI outputs, for my TFTs..

Are any of the cards around capable of doing what I need via their VIVO capabilities??

Not being funny Sky and PCs does not mix well Get a hauupage card and get the right drivers but I suspect you may have sound latecny problems....

... Also remember to play around with Macrovision

I thought a lot of people set up shuttles as lounge PVRs ?

Wouldnt that mean theres an easy way to get it to function as a Tivo/Sky+ ?

Obviously, the quality wouldn't be as good, but it should be OK on a 17" screen, shouldn't it?

I did wonder if it was that simple....

I got the card OEM from retek...will I need a special vivo cable (my old ti4200 had a separate in/out cable) or can I just go s-video to s-video??

But PVR allows you to organise your TV watching around your lifestyle, not the other way around

Make sure your SKY box supports S-Video out otherwise you will get a grey picture unless you select composite. Even running composite the image isn't all bad but is far, far better with the S-Video. Only a small number of Sky boxes support S-Video.

Again cheapest way to get it into your PC is to use a TV card with S-Video in or a graphics card with VIVO (which is what I use). David mentioned Marcovision but it is not an issue in this setup and you can record just fine.

Marcos - I have Sky+ in my lounge and Kitchen and a standard sky box in my bedroom....this is for the dedicated box in my study

Walibe - The box is a panasonic, is this likely to support S-Video?
