Does it power up? Can the BIOS see it?
As for the warranty: No one here can help you. You'll need to go to WDs website and enter your serial.
How vital is the data? a professional recovery service can get it back but it will not be cheap (and you'll not get any warranty)
There are other tricks you can try yourself which may or may not work but this is going void the warranty.
I can only echo Agent's comments:
Does your PC see it in the BIOS?Does it power up?Or when you start the PC,does it humms and vibrates?
the bios does not recognise it
and it makes a kind of turbo spool kind of noise
Hmm.Unless you have very valuable data, you could try to replace the PCB from an identical model which has its PCB functional.
from where can i buy a pcb
check ebay for one.you might get lucky
I've swapped over the PCB on a duff HDD successfully a couple of times. As others have said though, it depends on what went pop.
ok guys thanx but got it rmaed
At least some solution. Results: refund or new unit?
You will have lost the data though. You may get the disk replaced, but not the data.
got a re certificated unit
If you haven't already, setup a backup to another HDD or a cloud service. It's saved my bacon before.
