title says it all, if you had £650 to spend on building a new computer, what would you build?

Is that just the base unit, or does that include monitor, keyboard, mouse and whatever else?
"Well, there was your Uncle Tiberius who died wrapped in cabbage leaves but we assumed that was a freak accident."

wouldn't that break the £650 mark tho?
939 3000+, NF4, probably a 6800 of some description, 1 gig crucial Ballistix ram, 200GB sata drive, 16x DL DVDRW
I'm going to go for something very similar to this next year at some point, but in a Shuttle with 2 200 GB drives, and probably using the corsair ram from my current box
Graphics I'll probably be plumping for something in the next range of chipsets, so either the Fudo chip or something similar, but I'll be skipping the current generation, but that's only because I can wait

stoo i am very interested to know how you can fit all that espec the expensive ram into £650 ...
Before all the jazzy bits you need to think about a nice case to work on and a decent psu that isn't going to blow up once you connect all the other stuff to it and that you can use with your next rebuild. I've always liked Thermaltake psu's - don't cost the earth, quiet and never let me down. Whats it going to be used for?
gaming, i quite like the look of the 380w Tagan PSU for £47 from OCUK, not to sure about thermaltake PSUs tho

£675 without even looking hard for bargains.. hunt around a bit and jiggle the odd spec here and there and it'll be easy, not to mention exclusive hexus discounts and other bulk order discounts.
If you can hang on until after xmas when the prices will drop again (particularly on the gfx cards) it'll be a doddle.

What, why will the prices drop afta christmas?
because they usually do, and besides, they'll want to start clearing stock for new product launches, bare in mind you've only got 4 months until the traditional April time for new chipsets..

hmm, sounds good to me, even though I was hoping a new computer for christmas
it's still do-able before christmas if you want it enough, just be prepared to spend a bit of time hunting for bargains
btw the 6800LE's are apparently unlocking and clocking rather well
