Hey guys...
I've plonked close to 3-grand on an iMac 5K. Already delivered to my hotel, which I will be travelling to as I'm spending a week in Singapore for Christmas.
Went with the 4Ghz i7 / 32gig RAM / 4gig GFX / 512gig SSD.

Lucky man. The screen is simply mind blowingly clear. Really quite impressive piece of kit - I'd have it over a custom built machine any day of the week. Pics when you're home please (maybe a mini review too?)!
Sure @MrRockliffeI normally unbox/test these anyways at some point in the wee hours of the night. I was blown away about a month back seeing a Retina display for the first time (yeh, I've been living under a rock of sorts...) so this should be fun.
I pretty much code all day long and the extra memory will help when booting many many app instances, TDD/BDD etc... oh and really looking forward to SSD since it'll be my first experience with that as well.
Will be pairing a WD Thunderbolt Duo 8TB ext. unit with the machine too.
Lucky so-and-so! A beast of a machine with a gorgeous screen. Now that I've got used to retina (on my rMBP), I now really don't like going back to 'normal' monitors, which has kinda ruined desktop pcs for me!
It's surprising how quickly you eat through ram on a mac due to how it has programs open (i.e. they aren't fully quit if you click the 'x'). I'm often well into swap usage and I consider myself a 'neat' mac user, so I can easily see the need for 32gig.
Unboxing,
Finally setup, 5K in the middle; Thunderbolt display to the right. My older 2012 27" iMac on the left. Sony Bravia 42" further to the left as part of the home-theatre as the 2012 iMac's second display.

Wow, that setup must've cost an arm and both your legs. Why do you need all that horsepower?
Guess I'm passionate about my career. I do app dev/DevOps, and quite often have several Rails instances booted up. RSpec/guard/grunt running as well and RAM does get eaten a fair bit, so the 32gig of RAM will come in handy.
Personally, I'm into photography and some vid editing; Lightroom and Adobe Premier have so far been rather snappy too.
I'm interested to see how well the GPU copes with all the pixels. Beautiful machine though!
