    Steam problems

While connecting to a CS:Source server it often fails and i need to restart the prgram for it to work again. I have now found out that it's my firewall blocking it because it creates over 600 connections!

I can adjust the settings on my firewall to stop this happening, but i just wondered if this was normal behaviour and if so why it needs so many connections...
I don't mean to sound cold, or cruel, or vicious, but I am so that's the way it comes out.

Firstly this shouldn't be in this forum.

Secondly which firewall are you using?
The majority of firewalls allow you to let a certain program access the internet, I use sygate firewall, when a program tries to access the internet I get a popup box asking if this is ok or not.

I had some problems with steam because the program is constantly updated so my firewall tripped up not allowing it to access the net. I got round this by deleting the list of applications which were allowed or denied to accesss the net. Also tmake sure you are using the latest version of your firewall, or try sygate's firewall http://software-files.download.com/s...-10332265.html
Have a look at this page too, it has loads of usefull info on it

I am using Kerio WinRoute firewall, and "I can adjust the settings on my firewall to stop this happening". I was just wandering why steam needed to make over 600 connections, seems very strange.

Didn't see anything here related to it.
