About LinkBackso.k i go one of them wd external 250 gig hard drives, now the firewire ports are fuged and the drive is out of waranty ( by 2 months). is the drive in the case ide ? if it is how can so i can open the case so i can take the drive out .

It's almost certainly gonna be an IDE hard drive in there - it's cheap for the manu's just to slap a IDE>Firewire bridge in there.
Are there any screw holes hidden by blanking plates?
