Motherboard and CPU

I am looking to upgrade my MOBO and CPU. I just installed a GTX 750 Ti graphics card in my OEM hp a6700y. I am looking for some recommendations for a relatively inexpensive board and CPU I do some light gaming and I mean "LIGHT" any thoughts? I was considering the MSI 970A-G43 solely based off of good reviews and was recommended the FX 6350 CPU.

Can you fit a full sized ATX motherboard in that case? The PSU isn't that powerful either, so a 6350 might be on the edge of what it can manage.

Note that if you upgrade to a modern motherboard, you will need new DDR3 RAM as well.

If you are trying to fit in a microATX case (with slots for 4 cards) then you are probably better off looking at FM2+ motherboard and an Athlon x4.

I was considering the MSI 970A-G43 solely based off of good reviews and was recommended the FX 6350 CPU.

I have an MSI 970-G46 with an FX6350 running my 780 Lightning on a 650W PSU.
I wouldn't say it's an absolute top-end setup, but it certainly handles anything out there at 60fps+ in 1080p. I lightly overclocked the processor to 4.5GHz and I've no problems, so I think it would handle yours quite happily.

Assuming DwU's got it right that's an AM2+ base unit that can take up to 95W CPUs, so how about picking up a compatible CPU second hand for the time being? Something like a Phenom II X4 955 for £50 off ebay would be a huge upgrade over your existing processor. The system would even take some of the Phenom II X6 processors. You just need to be careful to check the paert numbers correspond to 95W versions of the processors: the Wikipedia list of Phenom processors is a great resource for that kind of research
