Is there an SSD tester similar to Mem Test?
My missus' PC has a boot drive SSD and I'm getting random windows failings and fail to detect SATA at boot on it.
Only occassionaly but pain the rump...put it off for a few weeks... odd error or close down.

Re: Is there an SSD tester similar to Mem Test?
It depends what you're looking to test exactly? An extended SMART scan might be a good place to start, but also double check and re-plug SATA cables, and check no cheap power splitter cables are being used.
What SSD is it?

HDTune will often show up something if you've got problems - either the error scan will show up bad sectors, or the normal speed test will show really erratic results.
Re: Is there an SSD tester similar to Mem Test?
It's important to ensure the SSD has the latest firmware installed.
Crucial Support describes a power cycle routine that's useful, regardless of SSD brand.
Hard Disk Sentinel's limited Trial/Free version is a very good monitoring tool for SSDs and HDDs, also capable of testing and the results etc. are pretty accurate and humanly readable ;)

Its a Kingston drive, it's 3 years old and it's been faultless up until Nov ish
Re: Is there an SSD tester similar to Mem Test?
Could be as simple as a poor connection. Have you tried replacing the SATA cable?*
*Assuming it isn't a laptop.

My older Kingstons had issues with drop-outs after running for ages fine. In the end I updated the firmware in them and they have been flawless since. The bugs you seem to get with SSDs are very weird compared to other PC equipment.

Either the manufacturer's own testing utility, or h2testw if you don't mind using up 1 write cycle. h2testw was designed for USB sticks but the principle still applies to any type of storage.

Does SMART show anything at all? As above though checking firmware would be worthwhile, especially if it's an older model.
