    Broken graphics card, need recommendations?

    So I have been out of the loop with computer hardware for a while so was looking for some recommendations to replace my cooked gfx card.
    I realise I have an old system but I'd rather splash some cash now and keep it going for a couple more years before completely replacing it.

    Here are details to make sure it is compatible;

    My motherboard is a Asus M4A79XTD EVO AMD 790X AM3 as seen here http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus-...sata-3gb-s-atx

    My current gfx card is a MSI HD 6850 OC AMD Radeon Graphics Card - 1GB as seen here http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-m...2x-dvi-hdmi-dp

    Needs to have at least 1 DVI port and not be over about £100.

    Many thanks.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but a 260/260x is the way forward.

    Sub 80 quid and similar performance with less power usage.

    The 260/260X aren't sub £80 yet, but they are comfortably sub £100.

    The 260X is just a rebranded Radeon 7790: review here compares it to a 6870: http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphi...d-7790/?page=5
    Spoiler warning: it wins in every test except Crysis.

    MSI 2GB card @ £91 here: http://www.ebuyer.com/658545-msi-r7-...260x-2gd5-ocv1

    If you can stretch the budget a little Ebuyer have an R9 270 for £110: http://www.ebuyer.com/614458-powerco...-2gbd5-tdhe-oc

    That's a rebranded 7870 and is a big step up in performance terms, in comparison; just depends whether that £20 could be of more use to you elsewhere.

    Thanks very much guys. In the end I pulled the trigger on the R9 270 and everything seems to be running fine. Phew.
