    Question Slight Motherboard Problem

    Hi guys.

I'm wondering if you can give me your thoughts. We (being a computer retailer) have purchased a motherboard from a supplier, what we thought and were told it would be an EPoX board. What we got through was an ECS 760-M OEM with no CD or manual.. The no CD and manual can be dealt with but after talking to the suppliers, they say that it is the right board and that EPoX have been bought up by ECS?!?!?!? Is this true? I've not heard of anything like it as EPoX is a worldwide company and i've never even heard of ECS so they can't be that big?!?

Is it possible that we've been a victim of some complete rubbish from the mouths of the supplier or are they really telling the truth and I had no-idea about this series of events.

Your views would be extremely helpful

    Many thanks in advance

    Drew

ECS are http://www.ecsusa.com/ , they are a pretty big company that deals in OEM / PC world style mobo's. ie. mainly budget ones. Epox on the other hand, are considered enthusiast boards.
Ive also heard nothing about ECS and Epox, which would have been fairly big news if it had of happened.

Its a safe bet that they are trying to pull a fast one here.

I'm pretty sure that ECS were making some boards under subcontract for EPoX.
Maybe the EPoX tech will show up & sort the confusion.

I know Abit had some work subcontracted to ECS, but i never knew Epox did.
I wouldnt be supprised if this was the case though (as ECS seem to have huge resources), but google isnt showing anything after a few mins of searching (im not doubting you for a second Buff, its just id not heard of it before! )

Still, if its advertised as an Epox mobo, youd think it would be Epox branded.
Are the features exactly the same on both boards ?
What was the model you odered, and the model you got ?

Agent: I also did a google search and it found an ECS board no problem with that model and it looks exactly the same as the one I have. Infact, it's identical. Replace the ECS in the search with EPoX and it can't find it on Google.

Here is the strange thing, on the delivery note the supplier has put it through as EPoX 760M. The Mobo has no brands on it at all apart from '760-M Rev: 1.1' It also has an SiS chipset?!? Socket 754 as well if that helps.
