    Completely fanless box?

Got an idea for a M1000 Epia system in a maplin project box, but replace the heatsink/fan with a big copper block. This block then touches the case surround for a huge surrounding heatsink. Add to that a 55w fanless PSU and a single 120gig harddisk - also with a copper block, but also packed in foam.

Truely silent system? Cooling good enough? Considering its not painted and plain alu. 55W is enough for just 1 harddisk, no CD drive and the M1000? Perhaps a couple of LEDs too

I can hear my Barra 5 120gig accessing now in my standard case, and with everything else totally silent itll be noticeable.

The epia board only kicks out 11W and if i make the copper block big enough to fit over the northbridge too.

Hush simply has 3 heatpipes doesnt it?

id say give it a go mate, would be nice to have silence, may work if not just use a big heatsink and make a hole in the case for it.

You cant say for sure unless you give it a go.

I personally think that it is going to run a little too hot without any fan in it, with the hard drive in there as well.

If it was a slower speed HD, I reckon that you might have gotten away with it.

Just personal opinion, no personal experial with Via systems.

I would consider 2.5" HDD and a decent size project box, not to small.

Na, ive got a 120gig here. Not spending any MORE money on a smaller disk. Already the board, ram, box and PSU are gonna come to £250+ not taking into account copper blocks etc.

The plan is to get a EPIA CL 1000 with dual Lan. The box will sit on top of my router and plug into the router and ICS to my other machine (4 port router, 4 people in the house: 1 port per person). Then ill remote desktop the machine

Hopefully VIA have produced something stable this time though. Im the biggest fan on VIA products.

I might make a fanless, slower box .... to put in my mates room (he has uni halls and they got free really fast broadband - 3-4 mbps normally, with it going much higher on weekends)...

Then RealVNC it from my home pc to use kazaa and other stuff ...

Then when I go visit him, I can burn it onto a cd and bring it back.

Saves me from leaving my PC on as well as allowing me to browse quicker without kazaa downloads messing it up

The Tranquils not right good - we'll be stopping selling soon, due to problems with build quality & regular problems with CPU's overheating.
I'd go for the Hush - it's a Porsche, whilst the Tranquil is a Ford.....

Seriously DONT use Kazaa from uni, its not worth it. Anyhow its a crap program Use BitTorrent or overnet/donkey network, its far better.
Uni connections via JANET are 10Mbit also

Hush are too damn expensive. I dont need a CD drive, but i do need the dual lan. I also dont need a harddisk since i have my own If i could just get the hush case id be laughing If you .. ahem.. have any spare?? ill pay well And buy a CL1000 Epia +512meg stick of low profile from you

edit: i cant even find hush pcs on your site
