Ok I plan on building a shuttle sb83g5 soon, and i have everything i need and just have to order the stuff. But, about the RAM, now shuttle has for the support lists the certain kinds supported and i plan on using pdp 1 gig ddr dual channel pc3200. Would this work in the system? Or do I need the only supported ones? Also, does the sb83g5 come with SATA drivers? Do you Need them? Thanks

Just remember to put it in backwards for the undocumented extra performance. if you increase the voltage by 2-3 volts it should last a lot longer as well.

sorry for calling you guys losers. Its just that on that day my mom died, so i was really sad and a little bit angry. I decided I am going to put all the money i saved ftom past years into building this computer. This shuttle will be a memorial for my mom. I havent been to this site in months because the last few months have been rough. I really do appreciate your response and i will follow it when i start to build. I was thinking of buying a sony but then i decided i will build. I have never opened up a computer nor built one. But i have a feeling this one will work.

And I'm sorry, too. And I don't want to intrude into your grief, but isn't a PC, even a Shuttle, a kind of short lived memorial to your mom? I mean, I change mine every 2-3 years... (Of course I believe about your mom)
"Loosing" it because you don't get a reply within an hour at 6 in the morning isn't apropriate, regardless. Perhaps you need to loosen up a bit.
As to your question, that RAM will likely work, but if its not on the list and/or you haven't seen any confirmation from someone you trust it's a toss up. Might work, might not. Shuttles are somewhat finicky about RAM.
So, try it, if it doesn't work, it doesn't work and you'll have to try something else. If you don't want to chance potential failure, then buy what has been tested by Shuttle. Even then, you may get a conflict. Which is pretty typical of life and why you should always have Plans B through Z ready to deploy at a moments notice. The only guarantee in life is eventually you will follow your ancestors.
Oh yeah, paying taxes is pretty likely too.

The shuttle will go on for years and years, what contrex meant is that in 2-3 years the shuttle will be very slow compared to new hardware and you may want to replace it.
I am using Geil Value RAM in my shuttle, I really recommend it as it is such a good overclocker for the price.
I am sure the RAM you use will be fine, Shuttles arnt that bad with RAM. The Geil RAM I use is not on the compatability list but it still works great.
I also used to use TwinMOS RAM, so thats safe to use too. Basically Shuttle computers only have problems with no-name RAM.
