Power Consumption of this Motherboard, CPU & Graphics Card?
Can anyone confirm these power consumption results under full load?:
- Asus GTX 980 Strix Graphics Card: 301 watts
- Motherboard: ASUS X99-E WS: 210 watts at full load in Prime95
- Core i7-5960X 3.50GHZ Eight Core: Don't know what the power consumption of this is when used with above motherboard
I'm trying to see if the Seasonic 520FL 520W Fanless 80+ Platinum Certified PSU with Full Modular Jap Caps would work with this motherboard. Apparently it does as Linus used this build in his video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXZrWqCT7R0
Yet the specs seem to suggest the components are using more watts than the power supply can handle.

The PSU should be enough, but I don't know how much over clocking headroom you've got. Linus has made a video about this though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKnfmeuOmXc , where the 550 w can boot with the Titan x, but not full oc.
Re: Power Consumption of this Motherboard, CPU & Graphics Card?
Where did you find those wattages as they are wrong or most likely total system power draw for whatever was being reviewed. Tweaktown did a review of the GTX 980 Strix with a 5960X and a Rampage V Extreme and got a peak power draw of only 371w total system power. other review sites that used the likes of a 4770K clocked to 4.7Ghz were seeing total system power draws of around 335w. The GTX 900 series are extremely power efficient. The Seasonic SSR-520FL has a single 12v rail of 516w so you will have more than enough power.
Re: Power Consumption of this Motherboard, CPU & Graphics Card?
PC Part Picker rates those 3 items as a combined total wattage of 455W - http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/ZPh9yc
Re: Power Consumption of this Motherboard, CPU & Graphics Card?
I would rather take the word of reviews than that. Multiple reviews show wattages for total system power of overclocked systems with GTX980 Strix to be in the 320-371w range. I took the one most relevant to the op.

Should be for full load:
- Asus GTX 980 Strix Graphics Card: ~160W
- Motherboard: ASUS X99-E WS: Negligable, probably around 25W
- Core i7-5960X 3.50GHZ Eight Core: ~120W
So roughly 420W at full chat if you could fully load CPU and GPU at the same time, and the GPU figure is likely lower in the real world.

It looks like that'd be fine.

Agreed - I just thought it would be helpful/indicative...
If you clicked the link, they explain it a bit better:

Wattages are estimates only. Actual power draw may differ from listed values.
Component Estimated Wattage
Intel Core i7-5960X 3.0GHz 8-Core Processor 17W - 140W
Asus X99-E WS SSI CEB LGA2011-3 Motherboard 37W - 150W
Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card 41W - 165W
Total: 95W - 455W
Re: Power Consumption of this Motherboard, CPU & Graphics Card?
A 5960X is 17w at idle? That's impressive.
Didn't realise that the wattage they gave was a link so didn't click on it. Sorry if I came over pushy. I didn't mean to be.
