    i5 Haswell NUC + Netflix = unwatchable

    Hi All,
Not sure if this is where I should post this, but anyway....

I have an i5 Haswell NUC (8GB RAM, 240GB SSD, Win 7 Ultimate).

It's quite happily running Plex decoding uncompressed 1080p streams and pretty much anything else I throw at it. I've just tried watching some Netflix stuff (Power Rangers with the kids) and the tearing/stuttering was awful. I don't have the same problem with any other Netflix device in the house (Roku boxes, Phones, Tablets).

Is there some setting somewhere I should check for? I've already maxed out the GPU RAM in the BIOS.

If it makes a difference, it's going through a Denon AVR-1910 amp to a Samsung UE46B8000 screen.

    Help!

Not tried going straight to TV yet as the cables are all hidden so it'd be a PITA. Also, it works fine on plex with a far higher bitrate.

    All drivers are current yes.

It is strange. When doing this sort of thing, I unplug cables and just use a new one to do it. That way you can keep your old cables in the same place

Re: i5 Haswell NUC + Netflix = unwatchable

Is there some way you can set vsync in Windows? Plex seems to switch the sync rate depending on the media playing back. BluRay rips @ 24fps etc. I'm guessing Netflix might be trying to play at a different framerate to whatever Windows is using?

Shouldn't be the case. I've never encountered tearing with Netflix.

Re: i5 Haswell NUC + Netflix = unwatchable

Me rowing my old thread for posterity. Managed to fix the tearing. Turns out I'd changed the theme to hi-contrast. Changing it back to an aero theme has fixed the tearing. I'm getting micro stuttering now, but it's way more watchable. Will post back if I fix that too.

Re: i5 Haswell NUC + Netflix = unwatchable

Is it connecting using wireless or a wired connection?

If its wireless maybe its on the edge of signal?

Anyway if its wireless try a wired connection if possible to rule out it being part of the issue.

Edit, sorry really should have read the above first
