:undecided This PC build requires your help. (Gaming and working in 3D)
I am currently working a bit on maya and max in my pc and yes I do game a lot, but I do need a new PC. For that I need your help.
What I want in it-
-I want to play everything on ultra settings in 1080p.
-It should be able to do the rendering quick (my current system is taking hours).
-It must be future proof for atleast 3-5yrs
-And lastly the system budget should be 1000-1500$ (Just the system only nothing else):undecided

If your current system is the one in your profile, rather than spending $1500 on all new parts, have you considered buying more RAM and a higher spec CPU?
An extra 8GB RAM and an AMD FX 8370 would go a long way towards removing your bottleneck in rendering and games but wouldnt require a huge amount of effort or funds. Your current GPU should be ok for a little while longer, however if you are intent on buying a new one, a new range of AMD cards is announced tomorrow. I would say its worth waiting for that before making any further decisions.

I agree with this but would also add a large SSD for the OS and applications then some high performance hard drives or maybe hybrid drives for your storage, which will make your PC more responsive with faster boot and loading times.

If your rendering engine can offload to another machine, it might be worth spending a few hundred on a second-hand server from eBay with 2x 6-core Xeons in.

Using an SSD for the scratch drive can also improve the general previewing experience, good call :)

Ya I forgot to mention that the system in my profile actually belongs to my brother (except the GPU,that one I bought) and i'll be moving out in 4-5 months. So thats why I need to know the specs.
Re: :undecided This PC build requires your help. (Gaming and working in 3D)
And also if theres a laptop that can give the same result or half, let me know because even that helps big time.
Re: :undecided This PC build requires your help. (Gaming and working in 3D)
For that budget, you could probably squeeze an LGA 2011-v3 (Hexcore) system together. Which website would you prefer to buy from?

Did u mean the X99 and the Haswell-E, if so how is the 5820k, I haven't seen any benchmarks of that except the 5930k and 5960x
but 5960x is too much for me to spend on.
Amazon and ebay, I always see best deals there.

Yes exactly, the 5820K would be the more productivity/rendering focussed choice that would still perform very well in gaming. If you wanted a chip that performed (very slightly) better in gaming, would be cheaper (which would then in turn allow for more GPU budget) and would still perform very well in productivity, you could look at the LGA1150 X97 boards and Haswell refresh chips.

Well that sums up the CPU and motherboard and what about the gpu and ram(what size) for X99 ?

Well the X99 platform is DDR4 based quad channel. Whilst gaming has no real requirement for oodles of RAM, when doing things like rendering, its always good to have more than you need. I would say the optimum amount per cost would be 4 x 8GB (32GB) RAM, but that's going to be expensive. You could just buy 2 x 8GB sticks for now and run in dual channel for a very minor performance hit. Then add another 2 x 8GB later if you need it.
16GB may well be enough though, you could just go for 4 x 4GB.
GPU again, its best waiting until the AMD announcement later today :)
Re: :undecided This PC build requires your help. (Gaming and working in 3D)
I made the leap from an i7-950 @ 4 Ghz to a 5930K @ 5Ghz and the performance jump was insane. However the X99 Platform is rather pricey.. I also went with 32gb of ram..
Where are you based?
US or UK?

On his budget?
Re: :undecided This PC build requires your help. (Gaming and working in 3D)
Well guess I could wait for the AMD announcement and then decide later on whether I want a Radeon or Nvidia, but then again 980TI or 980 does suit better for me because mostly I am working with mentalray and that has some issues with my current gpu.
