My build will not be located next to the router so I was wondering what is the best wireless option although a pci wireless adapter may affect my ability to sli in the future any suggestions on adapter?

A PCI card won't affect ability to SLI in the slightest. I've always preferred PCI or PCI-E wireless cards to USB ones.
When I put my system in pcpartpicker it says I need 1 additional full expansion slot i guess it's because of the case I'm not going to get sli any time soon so would it be a good option to just get a pci wireless adapter

OK so there are no PCI slots on that board, so don't get a PCI card!
There are two PCI-E x1 slots, and two PCI-E x16 slots. Ability to SLI will depend on how many expansion slots your GPUs take up - double slot cards (ie high end cards) will prevent you from SLIing if you have anything in the PCI-E x1 slots. So think about whether you are really going to SLI in the future - I wouldn't bother, and would prefer to use the slot for a PCI-E wireless card.

Thanks I think I will go for the pci-e slot because I wont sli my 970 i'll probably purchase another card in the coming years do you have any recommendations on which to get?
Anything from Asus or TPLink. Depends how much you want to spend.
Quick recommendations from high end to low end:

Much apprectiated
I can't recommend the pce ac68 highly enough. You could SLI on that board with a PCIe wifi card, but you'd need to water cool (or at least you would on anything worth SLIing) to get it to fit.
Depending on the case its going into, I'd consider getting a board with a better layout - gigabyte put the 1x slots between the 16x, so if you can overhang the bottom of the board a little you can have a pair of dual slot cards and still access a 1x slot.
Or you could invest in powerline adapters instead. More reliable than Wifi and uses the in-built nic

I've found powerline to be much more reliable than some of my wi-fi kit. Eventually I changed to flat cat7 cable because I wanted a 1 GB link to my Synology box. I ran the cable around the edge of the room to the hallway and you can't see it. Rock solidly stable.
I've got a powerline adapter in the house recently moved so i havent a clue where they've gone
