First mechanical keyboard help. Func KB-460?

I need a new keyboard for general purpose use and after a fair bit of research I’m about to pull the trigger on a Func KB-460 with red switches.
This will be my first mechanical keyboard and I just need someone to hold my hand. :-)
Does anyone know of any issues with this keyboard or, as it seems to be a rebranded version of a common design, is there a better/cheaper (around £70) version to go for i.e. Qpad?

    Thanks for any help.

Re: First mechanical keyboard help. Func KB-460?

I have a func 460 and there are no problems with it that a set of O rings won't cure. You will also need to buy a keycap puller because there isnt one supplied.

I dont know about the programming software as I never use it for my keyboards or mice.

I dont know if its a re brand but its solid and dependable and is very responsive for gaming but can be a little to responsive for typing.

    Hope this helps

    Hey dfour,
Appreciate the pics and thanks for the heads up re the over responsiveness of the keys though I see this keyboard only comes with red or blue switches and I know the blues will be too clicky for me.
Had also considered the CM Quickfire TK for similar money but it has integrated cursor keys and a couple of other little niggles that put me off.
Still not found anything major to put me off this one so it's looking good.

    Cheers.

Re: First mechanical keyboard help. Func KB-460?

I own a TK and don't recommend it. The keys aren't angled very nicely, and would often lead to strain in my wrist. I think this was the reason that MX Blues don't feel great on it... Anyway, I'd definitely recommend something with a wrist rest because if you don't like it, you can take it off, but if you feel as though you then need it, you'll have to buy one.

Reds are great for typing if you don't miss hit keys occasionally - otherwise you may find them frustrating. For me, they're really nice. I'm quite a precise typer, so it's a great typing experience for me.

Most welcome! If you'd like any more information or pictures, let me know. I've now got a K70 so I could do a quick comparison too if you'd like.

The K70 seems a very nice bit of kit and I should imagine the quality is in another league from both the TK and the Func.
To be honest I'd rather not know how much better it is as I'll only end up buying one and I really don't want to spend that much money on a keyboard.
I’m really just looking for something a bit better than I have now and the Func seems to fit the bill at a price I’m comfortable with.
It’s actually quite cheap for a mechanical hence my need for reassurance.

Thanks again for your help sir, very much appreciated.

I believe they're 75 on scan refurbished. Mine came like new, so it's worth taking a look if there are any left!

Son of a biscuit that might be too good to pass up.
    Did it include all accessories?

Re: First mechanical keyboard help. Func KB-460?

Well, I’ve gone from being uncertain about spending £75 on a keyboard to actually being excited about now owning a £120 keyboard.
Admittedly in no small part to the fact I only paid £75 for it.
The only slight hiccup was when I found out there was no Macro functionality on the K70, a quick search came up with the free 3rd party tool AutoHotkey (though not quite as user friendly as the manufacturer bundled software).

Thank you yet again MrRockliffe for all the info and for the link, was cheaper than the Scan website.
This must be the first time I’ve not ended up spending more money after asking for hardware advice on a forum.

    Cheers.
