Onto my next question... who would question the reliability of ASUS A8N-E SLi over the A8V-Deluxe... I understand the A8V is well established... but I like the sound of SLi, DDR2, and so on... is it worth the extra money problem wise?

DDR2? Where'd you get that idea from? And why would you like the sound of it? It's expensive and not as fast as DDR.
Explain please... I would have been under the impression that it was given the much higher memory speeds?

Will explain in more detail than you ever need to know :)
but the Nforce 4 doesn't support DDR2 does it...

Indeed, it doesn't!
Mike
Does it not? I will have to re-read me-thinks... Could have sworn it said it did!?!
i would say yay to the A8N sli deluxe
as im getting one in the new year
unless people can persuade me otherwise........

if you've got the munski now, do it. Just be prepared to upgrade again in ~6 months time when SLi has some/all* the bugs ironed out of it and the performance has been more optimised - i dont see the PCB and card interconnect lasting too long either tbh.
*delete according to optimism
Well the do it now factor is somewhat limited by the number of boards available too, but i agree with rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishey, i went intel p4c class chip when it first came out, and i have to say i'm still slightly unhappy with the performance of the IC7 motherboard overall. Even with the overclock i'm happy with.
With all this new technology on these boards, i'm sure 2nd revisions when they come out maybe late q2 next year will have so many improvements that it won't make sense to buy now, especially with the price premium.
I know its the old adage in computing, if you wait for something you could wait forever. But i figure late q2 is the time to buy s939 systems.
and s939 definitely doesn't have DDR2. Hence the number of pins, DDR2 has 240 pins?, making the AMD chip morely likely to have 1100 or 1200 ish if it was supporting that? :)

Plus you have the cost of DDR2 to consider, and the performace gain (!?) you'd get from it. Its not exactly the most promicing outlook at the moment.
I'm testing one right now. It's pretty cool but I'd say this board is only for the most hardcore gamers. You see it really doesn't offer much aside from the SLI, which requires you to buy two very pricey videocards in order to take advantage of it. The bang for the buck factor just isn't there yet, but if you have a display capable of running 1600X1200 plus and money to burn, I'd say go for it. It's not worth the money to me but I can see how it could be for people who'd rather game than eat.
But you can get one 6800GT today and another one in a while (and still eat). My OEM PCI-E 6800GT cost less than £260 - soon the price will be dropping (well if ATI ever get their new cards to market).
@ StormPC - got one coming on Thursday - do they have AGP/PCI locks?
That makes no sense... paying for new tech NOW that you will not use until later? Not smart at all. Better to wait until you can afford to use it. Prices always drop.
If you don't have the money to run it SLI then why pay fot it? To me the minimum config on an SLI system is two 6800GTs and a monster 550watt+ Enermax or better PSU. Also an FX-55 (or at least FX-53) is mandatory or you could be serverely CPU limited.
skuzgib: Yes they do have locks.
