Random temperature spikes
Hey everyone, my laptop temperatures when idle range between 35 and 40, and under load between 45 and 55,everything works well, but the issue is whenever i stop using the laptop, it doesnt matter whether an application is running or not the temperature of the cpu and motherboard both spike to 60 for no reason, i've done multiple virus scans and found nothing, i've checked every single service or application running in the background and nothing seems off, im really starting to lose my mind over this. Thanks in advance.
Ps: I got my laptop cleaned about 2 months ago because of dust.
My specs: Hp Pavillion g6
CPU: I5
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000
HDD: 500GB
Ram : 4GB
Forgot to mention that when the temp spikes if i move my mouse it goes down to about 50.
Re: Random temperature spikes
What are you using to monitor the temperatures? Have you tried using another program?
Re: Random temperature spikes
Thank you for your response, yes i tried both CPUID HWmonitor and Coretemp and both of them read the same temperatures.
Re: Random temperature spikes
Does your Pavilion have HP coolsense?
Re: Random temperature spikes
Re: Random temperature spikes
I rather suspect that as being the issue then.
You could try turning it off and see what the characteristics are like. Hypothesis: generally warmer, but no spikes.
Re: Random temperature spikes
It's the opposite, i turned it on and got off the laptop but the temperature didn't spike which rather strange, oh well im glad it's fixed Thank you for your time :)
Re: Random temperature spikes
Ah I assumed that you had it on. Well glad that it's sorted anyway. :)
Re: Random temperature spikes
I was about to hit reply but then noticed you'd solved the problem, ah that HP coolsense almost sounds like AMD Cool 'n' quiet, or in other words, a pain.
