What is the most trouble free 802.11gn card to use with Win 7 x64? By trouble free, I mean no dropped connections or driver/BSOD issues. Don't need latest and greatest 802.11ac etc.

I don't think WiFi and Reliable really belong in the same sentence, unless there is an "un" or "not" involved
You might need to look into proper multi antenna MIMO access points instead of relying on an integrated router solution as well if you really need to stick with WiFi, and preferably use 5GHz rather than the utterly cluttered 2.4GHz cheap band.
Or use a 500-AV Powerline adapter, I find them far more stable than WiFi.
Intel would be my choice.
Capitalization is the difference between helping your Uncle Jack
off a horse and helping your uncle jack off a horse.
I would only go with Intel TBH. Most of the other PCI w-fi cards I've tried have been junk. Mainly due to shoddy drivers :/
Run an access point in client mode, and connect it to the PC via ethernet cable.
Part of the problem with WiFi is getting the antennas somewhere with good signal strength, and on the end of a 2m or 3m patch cable you have plenty of freedom to move it around.
The other problem, well fire up "WiFi Analyser" on Android or whatever your equivalent is on your smartphone/tablet OS, and see exactly how utterly cluttered the airwaves are.
Why is powerline not an potion? I have 6 of them in the house, which I would have thought was too much but they still work great, far better than WiFi. I have them paired properly so they aren't on the default unencrypted setting.
mini PCIe/half-min PCIe cards with a PCIe adapter? You have a wide variety of cards available in that case. I am using the Intel AC 7260 at the moment.
Hi there, sorry for the intrusion but could someone check this thread?

I think I need the same thing basically but I'm still not sure. This is the first time I heard about powerline adapters, read a bit just now and I think it could work for me but I would still need some recommendations.
Thanks for reading and sorry again for thread hijack.

Even in the short HUKD thread numerous driver issues surface. I would pay the 30 (cheapest price these days) if I knew it would work even though I can't use the latest ac stuff but there are just too many complaints about recent Intel wifi NICs. The earlier 6205/6235 has an even worse reputation.
That's the way to go in my opinion. The Intel 5300/7260 mini PCIe cards in my laptops and desktops have been absolutely problem free.
For the desktops I use the no-name generic £7 ebay PCIe adapters with three 3dB antennas sticking out the back.
I have a Intel-AC 7260 and doesn't have the slightest issue. Either in a PCIe adapter or mini PCIe slot.
