    SFF to TV

    Hi guys,

was jus wondering whetehr it would be possible to connect a PC to a television, maybe by using a converter device or summin..

im thinking of buying a SFF, in particular an Aopen xc cube AV (ea-65) and was wondering if it would be possible to connect it to a television set, that way i can watch movies dvd's etc on a tv set rather than a monitor

Yes you can using the TV-Out socket on the back of your GFX card. I think it's called a S-Video cable, which then goes to 3 phono cables into a SCART lead - which goes into your TV.

    * I think they are called phono *

TV's tend to be more curved (unless it is flatscreen) than a monitor so it wont be as good as a monitor. You will be able to use your TV for whatever you want, just like a monitor.

However, unlike a monitor, on most TV's you can't resize the screen, so it might not fit properly.

Also make sure you use big enough fonts. A TV's resolution is much lower than a monitor, unless its a top of the range plasma or LCD. Should look alright for simple stuff though.

TV = 640x480 in most cases, i have a 21" flat sony TV that i tried using through TV-out. It was ok, definitly not for everyday computer use but great for games, mostly racing games that are daft to play at a desk.

Good for media center and games but not much else, and no internet, 640x480 online is terrible
