Headset Upgrade
Hi all, can I get some advice on upgrading my headset please?
Currently I have a set of Corsair Vengence 1500 V2 and they have been great but now I find myself wanting more, more of everything, in particular more comfort. Can anyone throw out some suggestions of high end headphone's/headset's that would be worth looking at? I have a budget of around £300 and they will primarily be used for gaming with a little media consumption on the side.
So far I have been eyeing up the Steelseries H Wireless but I'm not sold yet because some of the reviews I have seen have said they are not the most comfortable headset in the market, as for other option's I couldn't see any other wireless headset that ticked all the box's for me, so I was thinking about what wired solution's their are, I had a quick look and spotted a Beyerdynamic MMX 300 and they looked nice but some review's say they are best with a dedicated sound card, so I looked for Sound cards and saw the creative Sound Blaster ZX, those 2 would completly fill my budget.
Are any of the setups any good since I'm not very knollegable about audio, also what are some other option's?
Thanks in advance

Re: Headset Upgrade
Do you need a headset or just headphones? If its phones then £300 will get you a lot for your money, although you need to budget for an amp. Headsets are relatively more expensive, particularly if you want the l33t gamerz edition. I'm very happy with my PC350s, think they were about £150 on offer from amazon IIRC. But in pure SQ terms my Grado SR80s outclass them hugely for about £50 less.
Needing a sound card or not depends a lot on your mohterboard. A decent one will probablyt do ok assuming it has an amplified output.

Re: Headset Upgrade
Well either way I'll need a Mic attatched to them, weather it be a Headset or Headphones with a Mod mic or somthing I'm open to suggestion's.
As for my Motherboard I have a MSI Z77A-GD55, I was looking at a soundcards with an external volume adjuster like on the one I mentioned on my OP because I don't like the idea of not being able to adjust the volume on the fly mid-game, yes their are keyboard shortcuts for that but it is so much nicer having a nice dial instead lol.

Re: Headset Upgrade
I have issues with headsets being comfy and my best advise would be to go with one of 2 designs:
1. Very light-weight. Some of the Sennheissers fit this build with very light-weight plastic forming the body of the headphones.
2. "Self tensioning mechanism". Look at the Steelseries Siberia to see what it looks like.
Anything over a certain weight and without that self tensioning mechanism I find to get annoying over time.

Plantronics.... end of argument.
If a call centre bod can wear one for 8 hours a day, you can be sure it's fine for a long gaming session.

Re: Headset Upgrade
What I have found that is comfy for myself in the past are headphones that kind of support themselves, massive over ear foam pads that my ears go inside of and a lightish head band since most of my discomfort is from the 1500's I currently have are from the head band putting enough pressure on the top of my head to leave myself hurting after an hour or two, I had a pair of Sony MDR XB700's that were amazingly comfortable but didn't have a mic so they went, wish I kept them now.
Haha those call centre headset aren't that comfortable, I had plenty of experience with them, never again.
