    E1 ISDN simulator?

I'm looking for a cheap ISDN E1 simulator. Preferably something I can make calls with (or simulate calls)

One thought is a PC with 2 x E1 cards in it and a FreePBX install.

Or can anyone recommend something else?

Asterisk is the popular PBX software, running under Linux. The Interface cards aren't particularly cheap, but then it's all relative, and mightier beer cheaper than a purpose built ISDN simulator.

Yeah, I just did a seach on ebay and this seems the best price for me... I'll just need a PC to build around it

I've used Asterisk before, but not had the E1 cards. It was purely a SIP set-up. But that was when I had an Audiocodes gateway.
