    The final choice of doom?

Say i have a £500 rough maximum for mobo, ram, cpu, gpu, is this a good rig?

    AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester 90nm (Socket 939) - OEM (CP-111-AM) 1
    £113.95 £113.95
    Asus A8V Rev.2 Deluxe (Socket 939) Motherboard (MB-083-AS) 1
    £63.50 £63.50
    Corsair 1GB DDR XMS3200XL Platinum TwinX (2x512MB) CAS2 (MY-049-CS) 1
    £149.95 £149.95
    XFX GeForce 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (AGP) - Retail (PVT43A-NDF7) (GX-024-XF) 1
    £124.95 £124.95
    Subtotal £452.35
Shipping (Amtrak Next Day (Mon-Fri) - UK Mainland) £8.50
    VAT £80.65
    Total £541.50

I know the GPU isnt the best i can buy, but as im pushed for cash...should be a fairly nice rig right? For the normal web browsing...DUAL CRT using, average use gamer? Right?

Come to think of it ill need a heatsink cos its the OEM CPU, what can people recommend? £30 max. A Zalman copper one any good? Are these prices any cheaper anywhere other than OcUK?

I would personally go for the 6800 which is only a tad more expensive but has the possibilty of unlocking more pipelines.

    Otherwise a great rig.
    Main Rig: LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D | AMD Opteron 165@2.65Ghz | 2GB TwinMoss DDR PC3200 | GeForce 8800GT 512MB | 2*500GB Seagate 7200.10 | Antec P182 case
    Shuttle Rig: Shuttle SN41G2B | Sempron 2200+ | 1GB NANYA DDR PC3200 | ATi Radeon 9600 128MB | 2*320GB Seagate 7200.8
    HTPC: Abit Abit AN-M2HD | Athlon X2 BE-2400 | 2GB Corsair DDR2 PC2-5300 | 500GB Seagate 7200.11 | Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT | Antec Fusion Black HTPC Case

Check out ebay for the GPU u might be able to get one new for under £149 (which is the price u'll pay with OCuk with VAT) It's one of those BFG ones that went for a ton at PCW.

I'd think about waiting for the new ATI 800s to hit town unless I was desperate.
