I'm currently running two mirrored (RAID1) Seagate 200gb drives off a cheapo Dabs.com RAID card (based on the IT8212F Raid chipset). However, am returning the card, and getting an Adaptec ATA-1200A instead. Do you know whether my data will still be accessible via the new card? I understand I will probably have to reconstruct/rebuild the array to regain the mirroring functionality, but will I have to do any other fiddling?

Do you boot off those drives?
If so you might have trouble. Make sure you install the driver for the new card before moving the drives onto it. Even then I'm not absolutely certain that'll let you boot.
And yes you'll have to recreate the mirror unless the new card decides it can see the existing array.

No - thankfully, I don't boot off them, the array consists of two drives which basically contain all my 'important' stuff (documents etc.).
do you think that given i won't be wanting to boot off the drives, that windows will be ok with it? (i.e. no need to copy from old raid to another disk, then back to the new raid?)
It depends on the RAID implementation. You might have to reconstruct one drive from the contents of the other to get the array online again, you might have to format them.
I have no idea how the RAID1 implementation works on that card.
Personally, if it's your important stuff, I'd back it up before doing any funky stuff with the disks or the controllers.
