Asus Strix Raid

Anyone got one of these?

My creative pcie Fatality has just died and I'm looking for a replacement to use with a selection of cans - mainly a vintage pair of senheiser hd600 (and I mean vintage!!) b&w p7 and a soon to be bought gaming headset.

I couldn't work out the difference between an STX a Pheobus and the Strix - they all seem to be pretty similar.

Prime requisite is gaming performance - what I mean by that is soundstage, placement and of course - quality.

Music is not so important as I don't really use my PCs as a music listening device.

Btw machine is running Windows 10

I sold my Phoebus due to the poor support and updates, the software was terrible.

I went with the Creative ZXR as it had the better amp and works as I expect it to. YOu can change opamps in the creative unlike the Asus.

Thanks for going into your experience. Putting the driver headaches to one side, which of the experiences was better - sonically with cans?

The ZXR drives them much better, quality is up there with high end kit with the option of swapping op-amps if you are not happy.

Asus is a one hit wonder, if you do not like and find the drivers and software as bad as I did youre stuck with it.

Asus had the breakout box that swapped to headphones when plugged in, Creative leaves you to swap it via software.
Asus volume knob on the breakout box controlled the volume on the software level, Creatives offering controls it with an analogue control like a true headphone amp would.

Would I go back to Asus, hell no I regret investing so much in there kit to find out support is terrible.
