Ordering tonight/tomorrow - Any last minute changes?

Okay, a friend has asked me to make a system for him, budget being £800. He's no tech-head but does want the best he can get... He'll be using the PC for gaming, yes HL2 and Doom3, and things like audio - connecting his decks to the PC and making music.

I have a decent PSU i will be putting in it so that's ok. Any changes i should make?

If he's making music, may I suggest at the very least an Audigy 2, and preferably something by M-audio. He'll find the sound quality and flexibility in terms of inputs & outputs far superior

6600 GT on lowest on the web is £117 inc del
u are better off geting a zalman 7700 cu instead of the gigabyte cooler as its quieter and more efficient
if u are ocing i will recomend a 3200(if budget permits) as higher multiplier = better ocing
i would get panaflo fan instead of the zalman but it dosen't really matter
Look at the logitech ex100 on ebuyer, it is VERY good value for money, and nice keyboard(very soft keys and very responsive)

XP-120 cooler instead of the one you have, with a decent 120mm fan.

first dont bother with the wd secure sata cable you dont need it

second get the cpu from cpu city , its cheaper even with delivery taken into account

do not get the gigabyte cooler as they are noisy and crap from what i gather, get 1 from cpu city either a thermalright or thermaltake 1 (the thermalright sb-2 looks good for the same sort of price)

infact unless he is going to be doing some heavy overclocking the stock heatsink included with the cpu will be fine

the case ,well thats an aquired taste shall we say ,id be more inclined to go for a coolermaster centurion at that price (although they are a tad overpriced at ocuk)

but you can get the centurion and probably some other bits from tekheads (why use ocuk ,when they have a tendancy to shaft you if owt goes wrong)

Where are you getting that 19" TFT from? At near to £100, that seems incredibly cheap.

EDIT - sorry. Thought it was a TFT. I just saw CRT, so nevermind.

Looking around, Dabs seems to be very cheap at the moment. That top supplier is very expensive, and basically all of those products can be found cheaper at various retailers. But check Dabs right now, you'l be surprised at the prices.

The case is what he wanted, and i've built a PC with it before and it's failry decent so I don't really see a need to change his mind.
