    Sanity Check

    Hey all,

    Im just advising my mate on an upgrade / new system and wanted to run by you guys for a sanity check and any advice / alternatives etc.

    By alternatives i dont mean "buy intel or buy ATI" i mean not that memory, this one - its better etc.

    Motherboard - GA-K8NXP-SLI.

    CPU - AMD Athlon64 3200

    Graphics Card - 256Mb MSI PCI-E GF6800GTO DDR3 Dual DVI

    Memory - 1 Gb (2 x 512 Mb) Corsair TwinX, DDR, PC3200C2PT, Cas 2

    DVDRW - AOpen DVRW16X-DL 16x DVD±RW Dual Layer Chameleon (Sil/Blk/Ivory) DVD±RW, Retail

    Floppy Cable - CAB-FLOP-R Round Floppy Drive Cable
    HDD Cable (not sata) - CAB-IDE-U66-70-R 90CM ROUND IDE ATA 100/133 CABLE x 2

    CPU Fan - Coolermaster Hyper48

    This stuff is going in a Thermaltake Shark Case and the PSU is already sorted.

    So if there is anything i have forgotten please tell me, and any other info.

    Somewhere to store the Operating System would be nice.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    I'm presuming he's got that already.

    As to makes: The Gigabyte has some questions against it, and I'm not sure why AOpen rather than the NEC 3520. Also why spend money on floppy cables these days?

    Yeah, don't get AOpen. They're just crap.
    I've had 1x AOpen modem, 1x AOpen CD-ROM and 1x AOpen CD-RW. All swiftly broke.

    LiteON are great value.

    Otherwise sounds good.
