    Who remembers...

The AMI BIOS that was point and click?

Yup, it looked like Windows 3.1 - and you navigated through it with a mouse.

    Anybody remember it?

Yeap .. I know a friend that has that bios on his PC still Its an old PC World cast off system - probably about 600-900 Mhz with a voodoo 2 the last time I checked.

It took me by suprise when I seen that BIOS I can tell you. I'm more impressed with the standard menu affair as I know my way round the menus

I must admit I find the text menu's easier to work with.

However when I updated the bios on my oldest computer, i was diappointed to see the GUI replaced with boring text.

I have a Super Micro PIII 450MHz server board with that BIOS. Runs SETI 24/7. It's cool but since it's not common the text is easier (more familiar).

    Yep, I remember those.

I also remember some old IBM ThinkPads had a mouse controller BIOS, with a little flying duck cursor...

I use to have a DX4 100 box that had that BIOS. Interesting and pretty nontheless. The box is now over at my uncle's place with Win95, a dodgy mouse and a B/W dot matrix printer.

Yep - I had that on my first PC (486 DX33) and we've still got some PII/300 PCs at work with that style of BIOS.

Hmmm...I had that (I think) on a Supermicro P6SBA, which was a pretty nice board.
