DFI answers to the enthusiasts with new NF4 boards

DFI®, a worldwide leader in industrial computing solutions and maker of the LANParty™ series of motherboards, today launched the new LANParty NF4 SLI-DR and LANPartyUT NF4 Ultra-D motherboards for the socket 939 AMD® Athlon™ 64 platform. Taking full advantage of the rich feature set the NVIDIA® nForce4 chipsets have to offer, the new DFI UV-sensitive motherboards bring more performance lead to high-end desktop computing than others.

    Product pages:

    SLI
    Ultra

Looking very... yellow! First thing of note from those pics is the jumpers for changing between 1x/16x and 8x/8x for the 16x SLI connectors, rather than the mini-PCB on ASUS' A8N. Any other thoughts?

Im going to wait a few months for all the other major suppliers to hit the market with their products before buying. Im sure there will be quite a few revisions of various boards.
Its not as if my current 32bit system is slow anyway

You think your XP2000 is slow! I'm still trundling along on my Athlon 1.4, which is definately getting slow! I'm thinking of saving up and getting the ASUS A8N SLi Deluxe as well.

Um, looks like you have to change a load of jumpers over. You prefer that do you?

oh crap, i read your post and thought jumper, as in singular lol

i read that when the NF4 came out it was either the PCB or a drawer load of jumpers - i thought from that DFI had managed to find another way round the problem.

Wierd - the press release for the SLI mentions RAID 5 - but the product page says nothing.

"magnetic levitation north bridge cooling fan with fan speed control" - hmmm looks like spring clips to me.....

Nice board though - DFI have certainly improved their boards considerably over the past couple of years.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

This probably sounds stupid, but, im guessing that NF4 is only going to make an appearance on S939 mobos? Here i am with S754 and requiring a new mobo, doh!

I want to know where you can get the levitating fans from externally, they are a great idea and really should be very quiet, the magnets must still be quite strong though considering the majority of mobos are vertically standing when in use.

The only issue I can think of is the sound from wind resistances causing an issue.

Well CPU City have it available to pre-order, but they don't seem to suggest a lead-time.
