    Fallout 4 possible?

Now that my PC is fixed I have a hankering for a bit of fallout 4 but not sure I'll be able to. Specs are as follows:
    i5 2500
    16gb DDR3
    1TB Samsung + 120GB Sandisk Extreme
    Sapphire 7850 OC

Frankly I'm not about to upgrade it right now, I'm planning on upgrading in 6 months / a year when the new AMD GPUs are out and Skylake is cheaper etc.

So the question is will I be able to play fallout 4 acceptably, it doesn't need to be on ultra settings, just decent fps at 1080? If it won't I'll either not bother or I might cave and buy a cheap PS4.

    Re: Fallout 4 possible?

The minimum graphics requirements are stated as being a 2Gb 7870, so your overclocked 7850 might be approaching that speed. You might have to turn down the graphics settings to get acceptable performance, I suspect. If you buy through Steam you could always try the game for an hour & see how your system copes; if it struggles, just apply for a refund.

I would've thought your i5 2500 would be fine for a while yet, maybe just upgrade your graphics card when funds allow.

    Re: Fallout 4 possible?

I'd say your system will play FO4 quite nicely at 1080p, it will certainly run FO4 at a much higher standard than a PS4.

The minimum specs for FO4 are a bit strange, as it states a GTX 550Ti or 7870 as a minimum, even though the 7850, let alone the 7870, is significantly faster than the 550 Ti.

    Re: Fallout 4 possible?

It'd be fine. I'm playing on medium-high with a 7870 so a 7850 should be no problem at all at medium/low.

    Re: Fallout 4 possible?

Should be well enough. Mate got 7770 (Max.driver OC) and he does plays just fine (1600 x 900, I think). Of course, can't have too many things at the screen at once

You could always open up GeForce experience and let it optimize your game at least that way you can run the game at optimal settings.

That isn't going to work with the 7850 they stated they had in their original post :/

We have AMD Gaming Evolved, otherwise known as Raptr. Nice little program as much as its slated, always found the game presets much better than Nvidias offering even when I had my GTX 460.

Have a feeling there's some janky things going on with optimisation of certain settings if I was to guess. Can't see why it wouldn't run fine. A 7850 is a good card even by todays standards.

It appears the latest 1.3 Beta has improved performance on AMD cards.

Will be more than playable! 7850 was one of the best bang for buck cards back in the day and is still usable now!

Then down AA and shadow's and you'll be fine at med/high settings
