    Suitable memory?

Just another post wondering about the parts I am planning to buy. The memory I have seen is either

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=301825&cks=SER

It looks good to me, CAS Latency says 2.5 and as far as I know twinmos twister (as it states in the description) ram is pretty good.

Or would i be better going for some corsair xms for nearly £100 more?
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Corsair_XMS.html
(Its just under halfway down the page for the 2gb option)

Would the twister be good, or would the corsair be strongly recommended? It'll be for an A8n_sli deluxe incase anyone wondered.

    Cheers

    -Leonard

to be honest its a lot of money to spend on memory...!
i'd go with the twinmos though - corsairs not as reliable i believe

any idea why komplett are selling the twinmos memory at such a price? It seems like a really good deal, is it ust that or are there something "wrong" with them do you think?

Seems a very good price. Crucial are doing £133 per stick inc shipping...sometime Komplett just do seem to have the best prices by that sort of margin. Like the weekly offer Iiyama monitor (that I just bought, heh)...seems to be a good 20-30 quid less than everywhere else...

Anyway, depends if you want to overclock. CAS is the most important for standard use if you are not overclocking, but we are talking like...1% difference across the board, if that, going from CAS 2.5 to 2, I think. Its just not worth worrying about. Spend the cash on a faster HDD.

in fact you get much more stable timings with the tRAS latency at 11...strange i know but its true...esp. if using dual channel
gives the two sticks time to 'talk with one another' and not try to over-flow memory return.

Thanks for your help, I'll order the memory of komplett I think. They only have 7 left in stock so I may as well order in soon to make sure I dont miss out on the deal! I'll put the £100 saving towards a nice 19" tft I think, had enough of hauling this huge sony CRT about, it weighs 3 times as much as all the other CRTs I have lifted! Anyone want to by a Multiscan G400 ?

    Thanks for the advice

Hauling your system is bad enough if you need to work somewhere else, or if you LAN much! Moving a 19" downstairs is bad enough. Plus they take up a lot of space it a car! Been to LANs with two 19" screens in a car before, and 2 computers, it tends to be pretty cramped!
