Hi everyone, it's my birthday on Wednesday so I'm treating myself to a PC upgrade.
As you can see from the "My System" on the left, my Q6600 and 4GB of DDR2 are getting very long in the tooth!
The system I'm looking at is:

Can anyone see any glaring issues with this?
Also, the graphics card will be getting changed out soon, I just can't afford to at the moment.
Depending on your GPU and vendor the board doesn't seem to support SLI at first glance but does do crossfire if you was thinking of adding a second card down the line, are you set on ordering from CCL? as for example you can pick up a 6600k and Asus Z170 Pro Gaming MB for £317.99 on scans today only currently.
Depending on if you are overclocking the cooler might be a tad overkill tbh.

I'll take a look at Scan's TO tomorrow, but my last two/three experiences with them have all been pretty average/bad.
CCL offer the hour time slot with DPD, which is another bonus, as I'll want to have this built and going by Saturday night if possible.
The Corsair cooler is there for when I do decide it needs overclocking, which in fairness, will probably be about 3 or 4 days after I set the thing up.
If everything else seems fine with it, I think I'll be happy to go ahead and order that in the morning :)

You could save around £30 to £40 on cooling too - something like a Scythe Ninja 4 wouldn't be far away from the cooling performance of the H75 (possibly even slightly better) though I appreciate the skylake bend / break issue may be of concern.
Review here shows the Ninja 3 performing on par with the H75, and the Ninja 4 is supposed to have a better mounting mechanism and base that lead to improved performance:

I would be tempted to upgrade the GPU first then the CPU later in the year.
There's just one issue with all of the bundles I've seen this like, they're all 2x 4GB sticks, this only then leaves room to upgrade to 16GB maximum.Quote:

Going with the RAM, these are pretty cheap for a 3000MHz set of 16GB.. There were some better deals out there, especially if I went down to 2666MHz or 2400MHz, but I'm attempting to future proof this as much as possible.
I kinda had my heart set on a closed loop watercooling system for the CPU. They seem to be the future of CPU cooling and will help free up some space inside my case. (Compared to my current TRUE 120.)Quote:

I bought the TRUE120 when LGA775 was in full swing, so I've got an AM2 and LGA775 adapter. That's it. Thermalright did release an adapter to make them fit but everywhere has sold out.Quote:
