    Keyboard

I just found out, my keyboard is naff. It's over 7 years old, i've been using it all that time and I just haven't realised how bad the keys really are.

I'm looking for a replacement. I like firm keys, I also like laptop keys (but they are too tightly spaced for gaming so rule them out) the only example I can think of is the bog standard Dell keyboard. Firm keys, normally spaced etc.

Can any of you recommend a no frills keyboards, preferally black or grey.

    Thanks

Take a look at the Logitech UltraX. It's a full sized keyboard with normal layout but laptop style keys. Very cheap but looks good in the "flesh"

I'm using an HP one. Silver with Black keys, narrow footprint, 8 programmable buttons, nice silent key action. Beats my old MS Internet thingy into pulp.

I'd look at the Logitech UltraX too, in fact i may well buy one.

Ive used laptops for years so i really like the feel of the keys and they are so fast and precise that normal keyboard feel very clunky and cumbersome now.

I've just got an UltraX as an external keyboard for a laptop user. Surprisingly comfy, and despite the short travel on the laptop style keys, quite a nice action. Feels solid, not rattley, and looks quite smart too.

IM also looking to buy a new keyboard, The one i currently use is very nice, its the samsung that came with all the "time" PCs (ive scrached of the time logo, done worry)
    - But its 6 years old, and ive used it a lot, so all the keys are wearing smooth, and there geting a be loose and sloppy.

I'd quite like somethink wireless, but they all seam to be huge with all there media keys and all, and come with a mouse
    - But i only want a normal sized keyboard, and i have a Mx510 mouse

I looked at the (wired) which seams to be the same as my parents have (cordless desktop mx) - But its huge, with all the media keys, which i would never use, and it just takes up deskspace
    - I also quite liked the labtec which is a bit neater

The Hiper Alloy Aluminium Keyboard thing looks quite funky, but go knows what its like to type on?

And im quite tempted by the "Ebuyer Extra Value Silver/Black" thing, beucase at £20 all up, i could always not use, or sell the (wired) mouse. But again, no comment on the quality of the action, and how nice it is to type on.

    - Also, what about the "laptop type" keybaords, can you get the UltraX without the mouse?

I Have used plenty of mid range keyboards over the last few years including an Apple which was very nice, small and responsive, however I cannot recommend any single board more than this :Saitek PZ30AU Eclipse Illuminated Keyboard

It's comfortable, neat, very responsive and hey its even got different levels of illumination if you need it. Have found it nothing less than excellent even for legnthy gaming sessions and Office work alike.

I now have an Eclipse and I too wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
