    whats this worth?

    hi

looking to upgrade to an i7 6700k cpu and associated mobo's etc. what can i roughly ask for this bundle. its all under 1 yr old.

    Asrock Z97 extreme 6 mobo
    core i5 4690k cpu OEM
16 gig of kingston hyper x beast 2400 mhz ram
512 gig m.2 ssd drive. toshiba.

i'm thinking around the £450 mark or is that too much. all products have long warranties.

If you are looking for a performance increase I probably would not bother.

    Re: whats this worth?

Warranties are probably worth nothing due to difficulty in transferring them to new owners, but age of components is in your favour.

Check some of the bundles that retailers offer - they come quite close to your spec and price new, so second hand you need to come down a bit to nearer £350 I'd expect.

As above, there's no significant performance increase in your upgrade, but you might be doing it for other reasons?

    Re: whats this worth?

i have thought that, my current system is under water at 4.5 ghz - could go higher. i just saw a great i7 bundle on ocuk for a good price. i convinced myself last night that i needed it but probably and realistically i don't need it!! and i've just built my new pc in its new case too so would need more work, draining loop etc etc.

    am i being frivolous!

    Re: whats this worth?

As you have a pretty good set-up already, I think it would be a good idea to wait until we get some independent AMD Zen benchmarks at the end of the year.

I hear rumours that the IPC is just a a-bit under Skylake and AMD have said they want to release 8 core variants at a price that is competitive with 4 core Intel CPUs.

I have my fingers crossed that Intel's 8 core CPUs might get a price cut.
