    Trying gaming mouse

I've been contemplating investing in a new gaming mouse. I've currently got a £13 Gigabyte (m6800) which is great (comfy) but is starting to wear. Is there anywhere on the highstreet where I can try them out?

(I tried the very large PC world in Hedge end southampton and they had 20~30 mice on display to try but not one gaming mouse. They were all in boxes and I was loathed to ask a sales guy to open up a dozen boxes when I wasn't even sure what I was looking for... This was even more frustrating as I had just heard the CEO of PCworld/Carphonewarehouse on Radio 4 reporting from that very store how they where competing against online by having everything on display to try.)

Am I just going to have to buy a couple from Amazon and send back the ones I don't like?

What do you prefer - Claw, Palm, or a combination?
How big are your hands - S, M, L, XL, Huge, etc?
What features do you want from a mouse - Wired, wireless, many buttons, MMO thumb buttons, lights, DPI, etc?

    Re: Trying gaming mouse

Palm, L, happy with wired. A few extra buttons but don't really need MMO level of extra buttons. Don't care about lights. DPI adjustment is nice - the m6880 1600dpi is probably high enough.

Tempted with the Logitech G300S which amazon have as a warehouse deal for £26. Still wish I could try them first...

This, specially if PCW are boasting about having everything out to test.

CoolerMaster Storm Inferno - Switch lights off, loads of well-placed extra buttons (including Shift feature), big enough for palm or claw, nicely high DPI (up to 4000) and adjustable (including on-the-fly), programmable, braided cable, lovely grip, very good mouse.
Mine cost me £28 from Scan, IIRC.

I think you're right, just checked scan and amazon - they're discontinued, do you know why? They look really good!

    Re: Trying gaming mouse

I would love to be able to actually test things our properly before buying them as well, so I feel your pain!

I reluctantly had to replace my Intellimouse Explorer recently and in the end I went with a Steel Series Rival

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/SteelSeries-...il_TE_AMZLdp_1

It's actually pretty similar to the mouse I had before, so I am happy with it, but for around 50 quid I felt it was quite expensive.

    Re: Trying gaming mouse

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've decided to buy/try a logitech G402 as based on reviews/button locations seems to do all I want without being too costly (£37) and it'll work with the logitech gaming software I already have installed for my aging g15 keyboard... If its horrid I'll just have to send it back to amazon.
