Without a doubt the best desktop speakers I've ever owned:

    M-Audio Studiophile Av40

Looks like the old model has been replaced by these:

    AV42

Thing about them is they are low end studio monitors so no gimmicks just good sound.

What about raising the speakers off the desk?

I built a pair of speaker stands using Ikea Ekby Tore brackets and a slab of MDF, all painted back. Unfortunately, it appears that Ikea no longer carry these particular brackets, but you get the idea.

This was my setup back in 2013, a pair of Cambridge Audio S30 speakers powered by a Topping TP20 MkII amp, located under the left speaker alongside other bits of audio gear.

Mate, when Hexus recommended considering a mechanical keyboard to improve your gaming I'm not sure that kit on the left is quite what they meant

I remember my failed production days trying to write tunes. Had a desk that size with keyboards and drum machines on it.

    Those were the days.

I would second the T20s, I gave mine away when I got my S30s. I'm still impressed by the sound quality whenever I hear them again.

Digging up an even older photo, when I had a pair of T20s as a student living in a furnished wardrobe, how's this for limited desk space?

Indeed. My setup has since whittled down to a budget strat and 61-Key KB that comes out once a week, if that
