ah the 1.6mhz is probably a mistake, but the 1.6ghz probably isn't a mistake, as AMD have launched that speed Duron, and it's already available in Japan

If you get a customer, or an employee, who thinks he's Charles Bronson, take the butt of your gun and smash their nose in.
People ask what's the point in the durons but it's mainly for businesses and schools. Cheap reliable processor
Very, especially at that priceOriginally posted by Agent

Yeh, my initial thoughts were I bet these clock like hell. They look to me very much like intel's celeron offerings. Low cache whopping MHZ.Originally posted by Agent
I wonder what these clock like - 0.13, should be decent.
LOL! Just compare the Duron to the Ceelrons ... the Durons were only 10%ish slower than the Athlon equivilent and that's including 200FSB vs 266FSB. FSB is no longer a big concern as almost all SktA merrily do 266FSB and (unless the new Durons are locked) there's nothing to stop you choosing the FSB you want or can do anyway. So a 1.6ghz Duron should perform at XP1700+ speeds even before you o/c it. A big plus for them is firstly the 0.13mu but also it is possible to enable the full L2 cache making them a true AthlonXP! Very unliekly as demand is likely to be low and most will surely come from 'binned' AthlonXP CPUs but even so ... look at all the lucky sods who got a Rad9700PRO from their 9500nonPRO (but recall the huge amount that couldn't).
FYI a Duron 1.3ghz can complete the Pifast test in 1min 40sec with 200FSB and PC133 RAM. A Celeron 2.0ghz is at 2min 31sec and that's using an o/c'ed 470FSB and PC3200 RAM. The Durons are still worthy although I dislike the Pifast test it's been shown numerous times in many apps/games that the Celeron > 2.0ghz (even 3.0ghz) often has trouble keeping up with the lowly XP2000+ (where a Duron 1.8ghz should come out). It's certainly wise to get a TbredB XP1700+ - 1800+ IF you can still find one.
IIRC Morgan was based on the 0.18mu so would top out around 1.4ghz, 1.6ghz and up must use a newer core based on 0.13mu.
