GTX1080 to be launched next week with Polaris launch before Computex!

    http://www.tweaktown.com/news/51924/...d-5/index.html

EA will be unveiling Battlefield 5 at its world premiere event this week on May 6, while NVIDIA is reportedly inviting select press from around the world to unveil its new next-gen Pascal-based GeForce GTX 1080, and GTX 1070 video cards. When it comes to the next-gen GPUs from NVIDIA, the GTX 1080 should be quite the beast - with it being much more powerful than the GTX 980 (think Titan X speeds), with it being built on the 16nm FinFET process, the new Pascal architecture and GDDR5X. The upcoming GeForce GTX 1070 will be slightly slower - think less CUDA cores, and the use of GDDR5, not GDDR5X. AMD isn't taking this lying down however, as the company is preparing the launch of its Polaris architecture before Computex. During Computex, both sides will unleash their partner boards - with ASUS, MSI, ZOTAC, SAPPHIRE and the like all teasing their products in a month from now.

    Watch from 10:33 onwards.

"Pascal will be out this summer, probably in the same timescale as Polaris...higher performance parts out of the gate than Polaris will..we will still have to see how that stacks up..!

"Any GPU today including the High end....no GPU is the right purchase today!"

Means, not only at the high end, even below that the new cards will make the old ones look meh.

So bye! bye! GTX950,GTX960,R9 380,R9 380X,GTX970,GTX980,Fury Nano,Fury,Fury X and GTX980TI - let's hope you are all consigned to the bargain bin in the next month or two.

    Good riddance to 28NM...FINALLY!!

Launched next week is maybe a little misleading, as it says in the article and your quote they are going to be unveiling the cards to press next week.

Still a little while to go before they are actually released and anyone can buy one.

Apparently the samples get up to 2Ghz on air with performance levels of 980 Ti and consumption of 980.

Anyone know if the speeds from the samples and demos from the launch event are going to carry through to the actual retail versions? Also any word on lower end cards like a 1050 or 1060?

Who knows, as we dont know the stock speed or boost.

The 1050/60 normally comes out a couple of months later.
