Actually really promising. Especially at that price point.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

    quote from op link..
Since AMD is calling this graphics processor Radeon RX 480 then I suppose AMD has not yet decided if this card will be called R9 480X or R9 480
or. they're using X to mean 10 as in polaris 10, makes more sense than 'they haven't decided yet'

wonder what the polaris 11 will be called. RXI or R11

Given that number is meant to be the segment it wouldn't make sense that they haven't decided, but similarly it wouldn't make sense that they'd suddenly jump to an even number after a prolonged period of using the R9/R7/R5/R3 nomenclature, particularly when you're talking about an x80 class card. The kind of re-segmentation can get you a lot of angry enthusiasts (I remember the stink that got kicked up when the 6870/6850 were lower bracket cards than the 5870/5850). The current naming system doesn't need a change in segmentation, and certainly not one that would bump the mainstream cards up towards the enthusiast segment; the RX should be a higher segment card than the R9 by that reckoning, while the 480 should be a lower segment card than the 390. Makes no sense either way...
