Im getting a new system with a GB of pc3200 ram (A64). I was going with two corsair 512 sticks (dual-channel). Is this ok? What is latency, what should it be and is there anything else I should worry about?

Go for the XL-series. They will do 2-2-2-5 @ 200MHz and u can overclock them. They're TCCD...

It's actually for the DFI LP NF3 (GREAT MB!!), but it's a great start.

If you prefer corsair, get a XLPT is the best choice.

Go to Corsair's web site and do some reading. Lot's of great info there.

Latency is basically the time it take for the ram to respond. i.e the time it takes
between the input clock signal and the output... the numbers they show are delays
and the like between internal systems. Its not worth getting ultra expensive low latency ram unless you are going to spend money in other areas like getting a top of
the range cpu etc.

Im getting an A64 3500+, whts good for that, the ram i was gunna get was £103, the name does not bother me as long as it is good. How much should i spend on my RAM (2 sticks of 512mb ddr and they have to be matched)

Do i get a performance boost with faster ram than pc3200? I heard that A64 only goes to pc3200.

You should spend just under £200 on some Corsair XL 3200 2-2-2-5 RAM. This is the TCCD stuff, and will overclock great.

That RAM is nasty slow stuff. You want ones that are CL2. Cheapest I found was Crucial Ballistix direct, but there's more on the market now.
