    Mousemat revival

After a while cloth mousemats can get a bit manky. I stick mine in the washing machine, it still doesn't fully return it to that new feeling but I've finally discovered the solution!

I bought some of that for squeaky door hinges, but I know PTFE is the same stuff they make gaming mouse feet from. So I sprayed my mousemat with it - it worked like a charm. It feels like new again and doesn't seem to have affected the mouse tracking at all.

    Hopefully it helps someone...

Interesting, does it leave surfaces feeling 'greasy'? That would be my main concern due to my extremely low tolerance for greasy work stations, I'm the kind of person who would go mental with brake cleaner and acetone if someone ate KFC at my desk - because of the ability to dissolve grease and its high flammability .

I ask because while the product is described as dry, the MSDS for the product includes "mineral oil", 1-5%

It sprays as a liquid, but it dries fairly quickly (a minute or two). I don't feel it's greasy, but if you're that sensitive perhaps it might. You could always test it on something else - and if it's no use for this there are plenty of other uses!

Thanks, I'll give it a go if I ever catch it on sale. I already have dry PTFE lube in dropper bottle form, which definitely leaves a greasy film, though I can imagine a few uses where an aerosol can of the stuff, be it dry or sort-of-dry can be handy.
