    CPU Fan Advice

    All,

I've just bought the FX55 chip.

I don't plan to overclock this in any way.

I do however wish to make sure I have MORE than the needed cooling for a bit of saftey.

    I was looking at

    Gigabyte 3D Rocket Pro (Socket A/754/939/478/775) Cooler (GH-PCU22-VG) (HS-003-GI)

    as my first choice

    with

Akasa AK-855-BL Copper Base CPU Cooler

    and

Asus Star Ice (Socket 478/754/939/775) Cooler (HS-009-AS)

which would you use ? Which will be more than enough cooling ?

are there any others you'd suggest ?

    thanks,

    Matt

i sue FX55 with stock fan about 2 months and i think okie. Temp idle 42 and after prime 8 hours approximately 54-56.
If you want to use another cooling, i think Cooler master hyper6 or Asus Star Ice will be the best choice.

Asus Star Ice didn't get very good reviews, very loud and not a particulary good performer, i'd go with something from thermaltake, a brand you can rely on.

you can use ThermalRight XP-120 or XP-90. This another choice beside Hyper 6.

Anyway how would AMD know? You peeps are sooooo naive...

Best Coolers are the big ones if your mobo will take it. Either an XP-120 with a Panaflo (say) or the Zalman Cu7700. Both of these will also be much quieter than the stock H/S too.
