My pc's behaving very badly blue screen of death ALL the time, so going to upgrade.
I'm gonna go A64, APG or PCI-e???? (my 9800pro is a fcuk great card) Was thinking of SLI but (yes I know its for pci-e) but probably wouldn't ever buy 2 g'cards.

Firstly the BSOD you are refering to will have nothing to do with how old your hardware is. This will be due to someting wrong with windows. A Reinstall would be a much cheaper option!
Definately go A64, they are great. Also AGP is old, get PCI-e. If you get AGP you will not be able to upgrade in the future as it is being phased out. Even laptops have PCI-e now!
If you are a hardcore gamer that needs high FPS and has loads of money/ a big overdraught go for SLI. If you cannot afford it but want SLI get a SLI capable mobo and buy another graphics card when you can afford it.
If not just get one PCI-e card. The 6600GT is a great card, I would definately go for that if I could afford it. It is a very fast card and is capable of playing any game at the moment very smoothly at high detail.

I agree BSOD is normally a windows problem. Might be nothing wrong with your system.
Then again if you need an excuse to buy yourself a new system its a good one!
I couldn't disagree more. I've seen more hardware related BSODs in recent years (especially now that XP is here) than software ones. Granted software related BSODs are still around and just as annoying.Originally Posted by pudds

I may be lucky but since upgrading to XP I have never had a BSOD. I did have them loads with ME though. If it is the hardware causing a BSOD isnt it more the cruddy driver than XP?
Well MSi m'board can't rememeber which 1, 9800pro, xp-2500+m, geeric pc2700 ram, serial ata card, 300gb hdd, and a 80gb.
First thing - run everything at stock speeds, and grab prime95 and memtest86+ - use them to test the stability of your hardware.
If you ARE upgrading to a new system, then PCIe is the way forward if you're getting a new graphics card at the same time. 6600GT or 6800GT are pretty good, but ATi's offerings are good too (as long as you can get hold of one.)

You could be getting BLOD because of the speed of your CPU, you thought of lowering it?
its running at standard, recently updated chipset amd bios.
