I found the page on the MS site which lists the cards. I was gunna ask about mpeg2 encoders cause it said i needed one but that clears it up. I want media center so i can use it on my tv.

You can do this without MCE - tv out or video out don't require MCE. MCE is just a PVR application with bells and whistles, no? Can use other applications that don't care what tv/graphics card you have.

What other PVR applications are good? But then i want xp and i can get media center edition for cheaper than xp by itself. And yes i do want a real one.

all good tv cards will come with some form of pvr application and a remote.

I think i may just get my pc normal with MCE and just add a tv card if and when i want it.
